![]() Taking communion is a time to forgive and seek reconciliation. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. Taking communion is a time to examine ourselves, to ensure we are worthy to take part in the service. And almost all things are by the law purged with blood and without shedding of blood is no remission. When we drink the wine during communion we receive forgiveness of sins, since the wine is a symbol of the blood Christ shed for the remission of sins. For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it Ģ8. And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat this is my body.Ģ7. The bread and the grape juice in the communion service represent the broken body and the blood of Jesus shed on Calvary.
